![]() We are co-hosting the event with the Paterson Museum and the Silver Cloud dancers to celebrate Native American Indian Heritage Month and will be held at the Paterson Museum at 2 Market Street. Our next special event is this Saturday, 11/18. 6 miles connecting an scenic overlook to the Upper Raceway trail. Our newest trail, the Stoney Ridge trail, was recently re-opened and is. We do have some short walking paths, but they aren't large hikes. We also provide general public tours this time of year at 2PM Monday, Wednesday-Friday, and 11AM and 2PM on weekends and add more tour times in mid May. Our Welcome Center is open Wednesday-Monday from 10AM - 4:30PM, and on Tuesdays as staffing permits. Most people come to visit the park between sunrise and sunset, because those are the best times to take pictures of the falls. ![]() The park is not located in the highest crime sections of the city. I work here, and speaking for myself, I feel comfortable, but everyone needs to make that decision for themselves. Any place has the potential to be dangerous. You would want to take the same precautions here that you would in any location. Paterson is no different than any other city or busy downtown center. I am sorry to just be getting to your question now. While visiting the falls isn’t going to become one of my pastimes, I’m really glad I finally got to see it. The bridge to get across is awaiting repairs due to unsafe conditions (yikes!), but you can walk around the park to get to the view of the falls, which only takes about 10 minutes or so. It was so cold, that the droplets that splashed onto our coats froze immediately. You can get pretty close to the falls but just be careful because it gets icy/slushy over there. The falls themselves weren’t frozen but the mist from it that splashed onto the other side, was. But since it was so cold, we wanted to come see if it froze over. We visited in February on a day it was 9 degrees, so I don’t think it’s a very popular attraction on a day like that. There’s a medium-sized parking lot, which I can see getting full during warmer months. But I think as long as you come during the daytime, it should be fine. Finally got to visit the Paterson Great Falls! I’ve been putting it off because I’ve heard that the neighborhood it’s located in is not so great.
